Playlist for Folk n Roots presented by Colin Fielding on 3INR (96.5 inner fm) on Sundays 6-8pm Streaming Live & Podcast (Archived) go to This weeks playlist featured just some of my favourite performances by International artist that had played Bluesfest (early days called east coast blues and roots fest) The festival began in 1990 in Byron Bay NSW and wasn't long before it became this country's premier festival. Sadly after 36 years (in which I attended 34 of them) is no longer. In 2025 we were told that it would be the very last Bluesfest. Strangely as the 2025 festival ended tickets were being sold for 2026 and continued to be sold until a few weeks out from Bluesfest 2026. Then suddenly 3 weeks out from Bluesfest taking place we are told that Bluesfest 2026 will not go ahead and that Bluesfest Enterprises Pty Ltd. had gone into voluntary liquidation and the chances of anyone seeing any money , refunds etc etc not likely Anyways I figured that I'm not going to go into the rights and wrongs (I'll leave that to others in which there are many) but figured I'd rather remember the many great artist that Bluesfest bought to Australia, many to whom we never would have got to witness. I will still make the trip to Byron Bay, one because it's one of the nicest places in OZ and two because with no chance of getting money refunded for flights, accommodation, shuttle bus tickets etc etc . I will take up my grossly overpriced plot of land in the camping ground , find my corner of the tent that I share with 5 snoring, farting old buddies and reminisce about Bluesfests gone by and just generally talking shite & saving the world ....
